Financial Controller

As Senior Controller at Beach Resort Makkum, you will combine your expertise in accountancy with setting up reliable financial management and a future-proof department. You will redesign processes, improve systems, and translate numbers into clear management information and forecasting for the hotel business and related activities. The lines of communication are short, decisions are made quickly, and your advice counts. You will grow from operating independently to building and managing a compact finance team. Working on the Frisian IJsselmeer coast gives this role some extra charm and energy.
What will you be doing?
In this role, you will lay the foundation for a comprehensive and scalable financial administration, using your knowledge of accountancy to ensure reliable management information. You will set up processes in a logical way, ensure quality, and deliver monthly reports, dashboards, and management information that can be used directly by operations and management. You will also take ownership of preparing annual accounts and tax returns (VAT and corporate income tax), and monitor cash flow and investment proposals. As part of your day-to-day tasks, you will work on process optimization within accounts payable and accounts receivable management, reconciliations, and closings. You will analyze numbers, identify trends, and translate them into concrete recommendations. You will fine-tune systems and, where necessary, select and implement supporting software, preferably Exact Online. You will liaise closely with senior management and operational management and act as a sparring partner for financial decisions. As the organization grows, you will build up a small financial unit and manage approximately 3 FTEs. Due to seasonal dynamics, the focus varies throughout the year: During peak periods, the emphasis is on up-to-date management information and cash flow management. During quieter periods, you focus on improvement, organization, and projects.Why choose us? What are we looking for in you?
Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, accountancy, or business economics At least 8 years of experience as a Senior Controller/Finance Manager in a similar environment Demonstrable experience in setting up and improving financial administration, including accounts payable and accounts receivable management Solid knowledge of tax returns (VAT and corporate income tax) and financial statement preparation Proficient in monthly reports, dashboards, and management information, preferably with experience in Exact Online Independent, down-to-earth professional who maintains an overview and will eventually manage a small teamExcited?
